Los Angeles has many music festivals. These are great places for music lovers to meet, network, relax, and see their favorite artists and bands in one location. It’s great fun, but what if your goal is to be an independent musician and find like-minded people who are looking for musicians who not only want to play but also work?

There are many new options on social media and YouTube channels every day, but there is only one industry event that caters exclusively to independent artists: the . What is the DIY Musicians Conference?

The conference will be held in Austin, Texas, from August 16-18, and features networking, panels and showcases. Topics include booking more gigs and targeting fans online. Building your brand and identity, and building your brand.

The Musicians Institute will be present at the conference hosting three special panels that will cover music critique, songwriting and how to increase your indie career. Our panelists include MI instructors from the Independent Artist Program as well as program chairs like Lacey Harris. Artists can show off their songs to our critique sessions.

After you have had your fill of panels, you will be able to sign up for showcase and open mic sessions. This will allow you to do what you love best: make new friends!

We are excited to announce that the DIY Musician conference has moved to Austin. Austin has been called the “live music capital” of the world. It is home to numerous open mics, and venues that are just as teeming in new talent. This is the perfect place to perform, network, and be discovered.
